1. Application
The process begins when you complete CLLC's Host Application. All information provided on the application and during the interview is kept private.
2. Interview & House Visit
After your application has been reviewed, we will contact you to arrange an interview and a house visit. The house visit will include several photos being taken. Host selection is made based on current demand for host families and school proximity.
3. Criminal Records Check
All CLLC host families must obtain the appropriate criminal background check for all members of the household age of 18 and over (Nova Scotia and Ontario). The standard Criminal Records Check can be done at your local police or RCMP station. You may be required to pay a fee (which varies by community, but can be up to $55 per person) for this documentation.

While there is no obligation to host every student that CLLC offers, it is appreciated if you are semi-regularly available to do so.
We are more than excited to connect you with one of our experienced host families to help provide additional tips to be prepared to welcome your student.
CLLC provides culture orientation sessions upon students' arrival. However, your student would need your support to commute from your home to CLLC's campus during the first few days.
CLLC team is available 24/7 to provide any support in case of emergency. In addition, all our hosts are welcome to visit our campus to meet with our students and us and attend their student's graduation ceremonies.
