What to Expect on Your First Day at CLLC
What to Expect on Your First Day at CLLC
Starting at a new school in a new country can be scary, especially if you do not know what to expect. At CLLC we will welcome you with a big smile and a hello! The following tips will help you feel prepared for your first day:
1: Arrive at your CLLC campus at 8:15 am
2: Meet with your Student Services Counsellor, they are there to help you and answer any questions you might have!
3: Bring with you your passport and any other travel paperwork you might have such as a study permit, ETA Visa and/or medical insurance
4: If you have an English test result such as an IELTS or TOEFL test result, make sure to bring it! (This is not required)
In the morning you will complete your placement test. This test helps us determine your reading and writing skills. You will then be welcomed into our student lounge for the beginning of orientation. You will receive a tour of the school and a full explanation of our programs and school rules. If you have any questions, this is a great time to ask!
After orientation, you will have an interview with our academic manager. The interview will be a quick 10 to 15-minute conversation. It helps us to understand your listening and speaking skills. In this interview, the Academic Manager will tell you what level you are placed in and will explain your class schedule. Lastly, you will attend your first class! You will go to the New Student Plus One class. In this class, you will have another opportunity to ask your teacher any questions you might have and they will further be able to explain anything which is unclear to you. After Plus One class you can go to the activity, Coffee and Conversation. It is a great opportunity to meet new students from CLLC, practice your English and to discover a local coffee shop in your new city.
Remember, never be afraid to ask questions! On your first day of school, we understand it is full of new information. If you have any questions please be sure to speak to the staff at CLLC. They will be more than happy to answer your questions and to help you.
